Designed by George Wittet, one of Bombay’s best known architects at the time, who also designed the Gateway of India, the Prince of Wales Museum, Institute of Science, and Bombay House. Housed in Ballard Estate, the Grand attracted the merchants and traders who came to Bombay for trade, after the opening of the Suez Canal.
